As a member of the IT Enterprise Data and Solutions department, the Workday Integration Developer provides application integration support for our institutional systems. The individual will be joining the Development and Integration team in an exciting and fast-paced environment, where their contributions will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions. Collaborates closely with academic departments, business units, student support teams, and student organizations to analyze business processes, identify and document integration requirements, and develop optimal integration solutions that meet business needs. The Workday Integration Developer is focused on delivering high-quality integration services by utilizing state-of-the-art web services technology to improve application interoperability, process automation, and cross-system data synchronization that meet business requirements and data quality standards. Will work on a variety of cross-campus applications, including Workday Finance, Workday HCM, Ellucian Banner Student Information System, Salesforce, and other auxiliary support systems.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Develop advanced Workday integrations and cross-platform data transfers using Studio, EIB, Workday Web Services, and Report Writer.
- Responsible for leading and executing integration and data synchronization initiatives between Workday and major campus systems, including but not limited to Salesforce Faculty CRM, Banner, Raiser’s Edge, Slate, Snowflake data warehouse, CBORD ID Card Management, EMS, StarRez, or Canvas.
- Coordinate with third-party and vendor providers to gather business requirements, develop complex integrations, monitor integration health, and lead functional troubleshooting with business departments to ensure smooth Workday operations.
- Provide integration support by managing SnapLogic and Alteryx pipelines, creating endpoints for real-time data synchronization, and monitoring, identifying, and fixing data integrity issues between source and destination systems.
- Independently lead biannual Workday feature release testing, collaborating with functional users and steering committees to define needs, implement, test, deploy, train, and monitor the performance of enterprise-managed systems to ensure smooth production transitions.
- Develop integrations ensuring accurate and secure endpoint data delivery and data synchronizations among enterprise systems or third-party cloud-based platforms, including but not limited to Banner, Workday, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, CBORD, EMS, StarRez, or Canvas.
- Developing advanced Workday integrations, troubleshooting issues with existing integrated systems, debugging file transfer failures/data issues with outside vendors, data warehouse support for the Business Intelligence team, and providing advanced report writing services using complex calculated fields.
- Properly document technical specifications, data definitions, and process workflows in the enterprise data catalog, Data Cookbook.
- Assist Project Managers in scoping projects and defining technical specs; work with functional users to gain a shared understanding of integration's impact on business processes.
- Adhere to data governance standard operations when working with institutional data and follow IT change management practices with system configurations.
- Serves as the workstream lead for the Workday Student implementation initiative by coordinating with business departments and Workday implementation consultants to design, build, test, deliver, and provide training on the deliverables defined in the project.
- Stays well-connected to the Workday community to learn and share information on the latest new feature updates, impacts on existing configurations, and opportunities to improve business operational processes.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field. A Master’s Degree in a technical field is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in application development, data integration, and system support.
- A minimum of 5 years working as a technical lead implementing or supporting Workday. Core competencies include Workday Studio integration, EIB, Workday Web Services, and Report Writer.
- Extensive knowledge of Workday security protocols, group management, role-based access, and audit validation.
- Proven background using Web Services (SOAP, REST) and associated web service technologies (XML, XSD, XSLT, WSDL) for building integrations. Proficient with Oracle development, including PL/SQL, SQL, views, triggers, and the use of endpoint APIs.
- Experience with integration process scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, relaunch, and integration components migration.
- Experience working with Ellucian Banner is preferred, as is an understanding of the underlying table structure, Oracle development, Ethos, Tomcat, Groovy/Grail, AngularJS, and Java/J2EE Morpheus framework and foundation.
- Experience working with Cloud technology suites such as AWS or Azure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – This may be representative but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Must have expert-level experience in the following Workday technologies: Studio, EIB, BIRT, WWS, WSL, WQL, Orchestration, Report Writer, and Calculated Fields. Experience with Adaptive, Extend, and PRISM is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of API and Web Service technologies would be required.
- Holds a Workday Pro certification in one or more of the following tracks, which is preferred: Integration, Workday Extend, Platform Administrator, Security, Adaptive Planning, Studio, or Reporting.
- Understands and is able to work with modern web application standards and protocols for web-based development and data exchange between various systems using technologies such as HTML5, HTTPS, CSS3, jQuery, Java CRON, Spring Batch, C#, Shell Script, SFTP, JSON.
- A working-level knowledge of business processes within Workday Finance, Procurement, Payroll, HCM, or Student areas.
- Construct data pipelines and workflow automation using ETL and iPaaS software to integrate with other enterprise applications or into a Snowflake data warehouse. Experience with Snaplogic and Alteryx is preferred.
- Adapt to creating digital forms, workflows, and approval chains using extensibility technologies. Workday Extend and BP Logix are preferred.
- Familiarity with using GitHub as a continuous integration and continuous development tool.
- Solid understanding of Workday’s role-based access controls, audit trail detection, security groups, and protocols.
- Able to identify and pull together the appropriate individuals across teams, including functional users and leadership teams, for collaboration on issues or accomplishing new integration initiatives.
- Familiarity navigating College Student Information Systems and underlying data structure with broad technical knowledge of data integrations/interfaces with various third-party vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to pay attention to details, and result-driven.
- Ability to work independently on multiple diverse initiatives and tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment while maintaining optimal service delivery.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues across a variety of disciplines and business functions within the organization to provide technical guidance.
