Position Summary:
The Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic partnerships and overseeing all fundraising activities related to corporate and foundation donors. This individual will lead a unified strategy to grow revenue, foster relationships with key stakeholders, and align corporate and foundation giving initiatives with the mission and goals of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
This position supervises the Corporate Relations and Foundation Relations Teams, ensuring cohesion between the two areas while driving innovation, collaboration, and growth. The Vice President reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Development & Membership and will serve as a senior leader within the Development department, working closely with HRC leadership, program teams, and external partners to maximize impact.?
Position Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow corporate and foundation revenue.
- Supervise and provide strategic direction to the Corporate Relations and Foundation Relations teams, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead cross-departmental collaboration to identify and leverage opportunities for corporate and foundation engagement across HRC programs.
- Advise senior leadership on corporate and foundation initiatives, offering insights and strategies to enhance partnerships.
Corporate Relations
- Oversee the National Corporate Partner program and cause marketing initiatives, ensuring revenue growth.
- Provide guidance on corporate fundraising efforts for flagship events, including the HRC National Dinner.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with key corporate partners, negotiating agreements, and ensuring fulfillment of partnership obligations.
- Collaborate with the Workplace Equality Program to align corporate partnerships with HRC’s broader advocacy and DEI goals.
Foundation Relations
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for securing foundation funding from private, family, and corporate foundations.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with foundation donors, preparing and submitting compelling proposals and stewardship reports.
- Work closely with program staff to craft funding requests aligned with HRC’s mission and priorities.
- Provide overall direction and strategic oversight for the Workplace Giving program.
Team Management and Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and development.
- Oversee workload management, goal setting, and accountability for the Corporate and Foundation Relations teams.
Reporting and Stewardship
- Regularly produce reports on fundraising progress, activities, and outcomes for corporate and foundation initiatives.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of HRC programs, activities, and strategic priorities to effectively communicate with donors and stakeholders.
- Ensure timely acknowledgment and stewardship of all contributions, maintaining strong donor relationships.
Position Qualifications
- Over 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including corporate and foundation relations, with a proven track record of securing significant gifts.
- At least 7+ years of management experience, including supervising teams and managing budgets.
- Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, negotiating agreements, and cultivating high-level relationships with corporate and foundation donors.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to represent HRC effectively in diverse settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in cause marketing, workplace giving, or corporate social responsibility (CSR) is strongly preferred.
- Flexibility with schedule as this position may often require evening and weekend work.
- Ability to travel about 20% of the time for events, donor meetings, and other required needs. This travel will often be in the evenings and on weekends.
- A deep understanding of LGBTQ+ advocacy, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging principles is highly desirable.
