BAE Systems is looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to support transitioning of a prototype Wargaming Software System into a Production environment.
This is a truly exciting opportunity to work with a broad technical team consisting of expertise in Systems Engineering, Modeling and Simulation, Software Development and Integration, DevSecOps, Data Management, Predictive Analytics, multi-cloud engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
This individual will perform and support software development activities with a team that includes subcontractors and software vendor partners. Development includes the full range of converting performance specification requirements into agile stories that result in implementable concepts through development, testing and deployment of the new capabilities. The result is a cloud hosted system of systems comprised of an integration of commercial software products across multiple security classification levels.
This individual will focus and support the engineering process. The individual will coordinate and synchronize the work of subcontractors. The individual will be in charge of engineering documentation and complying with business management processes, including generating and updating monthly business and engineering lifecycle process management updates to leadership.
Responsibilities include completing software development tasks both individually and with the rest of the agile software development team. The selected individual will actively participate in program increment planning and related team activities. He/she will analyze and study complex system requirements, use design software tools, provide support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques. He/she will use sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant, and reusable. The selected candidate will provide software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process, and will promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration by creating common functions and shared actions for developers and testers. He/she will engineer, author, tune and document automation scripts in a development environment and deploy to the test/production bench.
The candidate will be a Systems Engineer familiar with general software development practices, and at least some understanding of DevOps.
Work Location:
Duties expected to be performed at the BAE Systems Facility located in Sterling, Virginia. Support may also be required at the customer facility located in Quantico Virginia.
Alternate work locations must be agreed to in writing by BAE Systems at time of hire and is subject to change due to contract requirements.
- BS Degree in Engineering or Technology with hands-on experience in Systems Engineering, Software Development and Integration.
- Experience with programming languages (C++. Java. JavaScript, Python)
- Ability to write technical reports and white papers, and effectively communicate with internal and customer stakeholders.
- Familiarity with sound software development principles and practices.
- Must be able to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team, in a fast-moving environment
- Hands-on Modeling and Simulations experience.
- Preferred if the candidate has USMC experience and has wargaming knowledge.
- Experience with Commercial Wargaming software solutions.
- Experience with Simulation Engines such as: OneSAF, VBS4, AFSIM, etc.
- Experience with DIS, MSSV, and HLA frameworks and interfaces.
- Experience with deployment to cloud environments (AWS and Azure)
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
