National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer for our engaged and collaborative NE Gas Asset Management and Engineering Teamin Waltham, MA.
This is a Hybrid Role: 2-3 days in the office - Must live within a commutable distance to Waltham, MA
Job Purpose
Responsible for the engineering, design and technical oversight during construction of projects relating to the gas transmission and distribution networks.
Key Accountabilities
* Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints
* Effectively communicate project information with involved internal and external stake holders.
* Ability to negotiate and manage commercial contracts with third parties and suppliers.
* Develop project bid specifications and assist in the procurement of engineering and/or and construction services.
* Identify and specify materials to be used in association with gas construction projects.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
* Experience in engineering and design for natural gas construction projects which may include distribution/transmission pipelines, bridge/highway/waterway crossings, regulating facilities, large metering and gate stations.
* Experience in the application of design and construction standards, engineering drawings, and underground construction methods and procedures.
* Technical knowledge of natural gas system design and operations including natural gas industry codes and regulations, engineering and environmental codes and standards.
* Knowledge of OSHA, PHMSA, and applicable State/local regulations.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred
* Management of external engineering design firms, contracted to support projects, to ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards, within budget and on schedule.
Qualifications
* 4-5 years engineering or equivalent work experience, minimum.
* A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required (ABET-accredited degrees in civil, chemical or mechanical engineering preferred); Master's Degree in relevant field preferred.
* Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is strongly preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) or MA PE certification is preferred (or ability to obtain through reciprocity).
* Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history.
* Successful applicants must live within 60 miles of Waltham, MA.

$123k - $143k a year
