Note that this position is temporary, and hours will range between 0-25 hours weekly, depending on potential student quantities. Interviews are expected to last several weeks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate incoming students' skills in Python and SQL through coding challenge assessments.
- Facilitate 1 hour coding challenge sessions with prospective students to determine their technical capabilities.
- Offer guidance on coding approaches, logic, and best practices to help students improve.
- Ensure quality instruction that applies best practices and principles.
- Assess students’ performance and provide insights regarding their technical readiness for the program
- Record observations and feedback on students’ performance for future reference.
- Guide students through debugging and logical thinking without directly providing answers.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to provide insights on student readiness and potential learning challenges.
Job Skills:
- Proficiency in basic Python concepts, syntax, and problem-solving.
- Strong understanding of SQL fundamentals, including queries, joins, and basic database operations.
- Capability to assess and guide students on problem-solving approaches.
- Experience reviewing and grading coding challenges.
- Proactive and clear communicator.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Work Experience:
- 2+ years in a technical engineering position.
Education:
- Commensurate training in software engineering/Bootcamps in lieu of degree will be considered.
Other:
- Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers.
- Must be able to work more than 20 hours per week when business needs warrant. Accommodations related to schedule may be considered.
