Job Purpose:

The Regional Pharmacy Liaison is a highly motivated pharmacy technician with a passion to help patients, a desire to progress in their career, and an interest in supporting more clinics, disease states, and partners within Shields Health Solutions.   

The Regional Pharmacy Liaison will serve as the “floater” or “flex-resource” at a site or sites within a Region.  They are expected to support all specialty clinics and diseases states at a specific site or sites within their Region as needed to provide face-to-face, high touch care to specialty patients.  When not working as the covering Liaison, they will be assigned other tasks and responsibilities to support their Region’s priorities, including but not limited to completing refill calls, PA/FA work, and engaging/onboarding patients to program.  In addition, the Regional Pharmacy Liaison is expected to support the stabilization of new hires onboarded to a specific site or sites within their Region.   

The role requires onsite presence at their designated “home site” or sites within the Region when needed/requested; any travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed according to policy.  Note, travel to “home site” will not be reimbursed  

Job Duties:

  • Provide "legendary" care to hospital patients by providing a full suite of custom medication management services
  • Launch new clinics as the in-seat Liaison until permanent Liaison is identified, hired and trained
  • Provide transitional coverage support for FMLA, voluntary / involuntary transitions, and other coverage gaps (including short- and long-term PTO)
  • Support stabilization of new hires into clinics
  • Provide education about the Shields care model to clinic leadership, staff, and patients
  • Adapt quickly to new environments and therapeutic areas in order to operate effectively as a liaison
  • Support auditing of people and processes; perform other tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of their direct manager and/or leadership of the site they are actively supporting
  • Successfully engage and onboard patients into the program
  • Work with our implementation team to recommend workflow enhancements to help the clinic deliver the highest level of patient care
  • Independently or in partnership with our centralized Patient Support Center, perform benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance work needed to ensure patients have access to the medication they need
  • Provide direct support to patients to ensure that they are supported throughout their medication therapy
  • Proactively communicate and triage any clinical questions to an appropriate clinician (pharmacist, nurse, or provider)
  • Travel costs will be reimbursed (in accordance with company expense reimbursement policy)

Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills, highly proficient in systems such as MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel), EMR systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech), and dispensing systems (e.g., QS1, RX30, or Computer Rx)

A passion for helping patients.  Organized, high-integrity, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently, dependable, quality focus, empathetic, good listener/communicator, able to effectively transfer knowledge to others. Energetic, outgoing, highly motivated team player

Discretion and confidentiality are essential as position deals with highly sensitive and private data.  Broad knowledge of specialty disease states and medications is optimal

Experience/ Education:

Required Licensure/Certification:  We are seeking experienced pharmacy technicians who are state registered as a pharmacy technician. Nationally certified as a CPhT is strongly preferred but not required. Should additional licensure need to be obtained, the applicant will commit to obtaining the required licensure within a mutually agreed upon timeframe. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements.

Years of Experience: Required 3-5 years, Preferred 5-8 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician; 2 years in Liaison role or equivalent experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED required
