    As an FBI Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and securing critical infrastructure that supports national operations and public services. This position offers unique opportunities to work with advanced technologies, collaborate with other entities, and protect vital networks from emerging cyber threats. 

    Job Summary

    Working Hours: 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. (hours and shifts may vary based on division needs)

    Salary:

    GS 12: $88,621.00 - $115,213.00

    GS 13: $105,383.00 - $137,000.00

    Full Performance level: GS 14

    Number of Positions Available: 1

    Duration: Full Time/Permanent

    Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

    Key Requirements

    Mission Statement:

    The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

    Major Duties:

    • Develop improved technical processes or systems and deploy new capabilities.
    • Communicate in small and medium sized groups are required to gather required information and brief out on results.
    • Independently performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under minimal direction.
    • Provides LAN/WAN network engineering support for the Division’s network/systems and supporting devices.
    • Works independently or as part of a team of administrators and engineers to research and obtain knowledge regarding state-of-the-art networking solutions.
    • Initiates, coordinates, and conducts testing of networking technologies to establish and maintain connectivity and interoperability with customers.
    • Documents hardware and software capabilities and studies the applicability of such technologies for current and future FBI network systems.
    • Plans, coordinates, and executes large projects that involve multiple stages in the engineering life cycle.
    • Performs fault-isolation, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective actions to rapidly resolve LAN/WAN enterprise outages and deficiencies.
    • Works with procurement teams to provide data needed to purchase future hardware and software in support of FBI networking systems.

        Specialized Experience (SE):

        GS 12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

        • Diagnosed and analyzed network traffic and network issues and took corrective action when necessary
        • Configured, installed, and maintained on-premise and cloud network environments to ensure network connectivity and continual operation
        • Tested existing or new network technologies to document capabilities for further review and implementation
        • Identified, analyzed and recommended new requirements and changes to current network systems.

          GS 13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

          • Configured routing protocols to control traffic flows and network path redundancy and made network enhancements to improve network efficiency
          • Configured, installed, and maintained on-premise and cloud network environments to ensure network connectivity and continual operation
          • Provided guidance to management pertaining to the development, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the organization's IT systems, including new or current network strategies.
          • Contributed to policies or standard operating procedures focused on network security, Network operations, or network infrastructure

            Education

            Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience at the GS 12 /13 levels.
