As an integral member of the Pediatric Rehabilitation team, you will play an important role and share our priorities which include high quality medical care, excellent customer service, safety of our staff and patients, efficiency, employee satisfaction, stewardship of resources and the ideal patient experience.
Responsibilities*
Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families at the outpatient Pediatric Rehab Center (located at 2205 Commonwealth Blvd, Ann Arbor) by performing clinical processes that result in the management of efficient patient flow.
- Work directly with providers to deliver excellent and timely patient care.
- Room patients and perform patient intake- document patient vitals, chief complaint, height & weight.
- Ensure efficient patient flow in a pediatric outpatient setting- Monitor patient flow and notify patient/families of schedule or provider delays.
- Efficiently and effectively prepare and organize clinic exam/procedure rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed.
- Maintain in-basket messaging for provider messaging, patient portal messaging.
- Assist with obtaining medication prior authorizations.
- Provide accurate and efficient clinical support processes that include prepare and pend prescription refills as directed by provider. Collaborate with nursing and physician staff to ensure optimal patient care. Respond to general patient inquiries regarding care and clinic policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications*
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years years of experience
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Moderate standing/walking as well as lifting, positioning pushing and/or transferring patients
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting
- Communicates effectively
- Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills
Desired Qualifications*
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Experience working within a large complex health care setting
- Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
Work Schedule
This will be a Full-Time temporary position until September 2025, 40 hours per week; Monday ? Friday 7:45am to 4:45pm schedule.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
