The Role / Responsibilities:

Working with minimal supervision, the Head of Data Strategy is a business minded individual responsible for understanding the data needs across the enterprise and to develop and execute a roadmap to maximize data capabilities and business insights.

The Head of Data Strategy will partner with senior data leadership team (domain leads, engineering, product) to develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that incorporates GenAI technologies to support business objectives, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation. The individual is responsible for scaling the data function as new products and services are implemented and transforming data into insights that inform strategy and decision making to support profitable growth.

Own the long term roadmap priorities for the team, advising domain owners and operational teams on priorities and assessing data requirements for new products
Spearhead the identification, evaluation and acquisition decisioning of new data assets including making trade-offs and ensuring no duplication in data assets
Stay up-to-date with the evolution in the data marketspace (sources and tools) to ensure competitive advantage
Coordinate and align with the Moody's Analytics product and segment strategy teams to develop a clear view of the data team's wider strategic vision and priorities are aligned with the broader business strategy.
Liaise with cross-functional business and data partners to understand evolving customer needs and collaborate with the data governance team to reflect these changes
Deliver executive and organization wide communications to internal and external customers to ensure information needs are formalized and understood and be conversant in the functional requirements for information exchange
Identify and proactively alert leadership team about potential risks and provide solutions to meet business and data quality objectives.
Be a champion for data driven culture , leading a team of data strategists and developing best practices and processes for effective prioritization and alignment.
Recommend and evaluate opportunities for automation and optimization, leveraging leading technologies and data management best practices
Own and evangelize the GenAI strategy for the team

Qualifications:

Masters or bachelor's degree in one of the following - Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Economics, Engineering or Statistics
A minimum of 10 years in data strategy roles, with a track record of leading AI and machine learning projects.
Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in implementing data frameworks and driving continuous improvement
Fluency in domains of data strategy, data governance, ethical & regulatory standards, and security & access management
Expertise in data strategy including vendor selection for commercial data sets.
Exposure to Banking, Insurance, Asset Management company processes and functions
Knowledge of industry data sources for varied asset classes, financial metrics
Use of AI: Deep understanding of data management principles, AI and machine learning technologies, proficient in ethical AI practices, knowledgeable in data privacy and security regulations. Proven business process management skills including planning, organizational, budgeting, and time management skills.
Expert communication and interpersonal skills and ability to influence leadership
Superior leadership and matrix management skills.

Our group is part of Moodys Analytics and focuses to efficiently deliver quality and connected data that meet customer needs and enable commercial opportunities. Our data solutions provide customers with unique, complete, and accurate data-tightly coupled analytics-that reduces the "time to value" when decisions need to be made. We capture data from hundreds of data partners, media sources, and monitored lists.

We serve about 7,500 customers in 120 countries and are probably best known for our Orbis database with info on public and private companies. Our Orbis database has information on 525+ million public and private companies (see the Orbis Infographic for current figures), enabling us to offer analysis-ready data how, where, and when our customers want it. We also offer our ratings delivery service, with information on 4.5 million past and present ratings from Moody's Investors Service.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$231,400.00-$335,500.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
