Hanover College seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Director of the Agnes Brown Duggan Library. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director will lead an experienced staff in drawing upon a comprehensive program review to transition the library to a multipurpose hub for services, research, information literacy and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Director oversees all aspects of the library, supporting the vision of the College, upholding the mission of the library, and collaborating with faculty to sustain the curriculum and link information literacy with students' learning. This is an administrative staff appointment with faculty status. Start date is July 1, 2025.
Duggan Library houses the College's collection of over half a million volumes (print and electronic) along with an extensive media collection and access to over 100 databases covering all academic subjects. The three-story, 50,000 square foot facility is a central campus feature and also houses the Gladish Learning Center, collaborative learning spaces, computer lab, and media tech room. A major component of the library is the Joseph Wood Evans Memorial Special Collections and Archives Center, housing over 150,000 items from 300 B.C.E. to the present day. The library serves approximately 1,000 residential undergraduate students and over 200 graduate students in our expanding hybrid programs in health sciences.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Provost and library staff, establish and implement a three-year strategic plan for library operations to align with the College's vision, mission, and core values and responsive to the ever-evolving teaching, learning and scholarly research environments.
- Supervise and evaluate services, staff and collection development to champion information literacy, provide access to quality information and resources, and aid faculty and students in their teaching and learning.
- Promote and facilitate innovation in technology, service models, and librarianship.
- Facilitate partnerships thatsupportthe Duggan Library's efforts to be adynamic and innovativehub for student services,resourcesand support.
- Champion andfacilitateefforts to improve access, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all library servicesincluding open educational resources.
- Develop and administer the annual library budgetand a long-range financial sustainability plan.
- In collaboration with the Office of Advancement, stewardgift funds,nurtureand builddonor relationshipsto secure fundingthatenhancelibrary operations and services.
- Identify,researchand developgrant opportunitiesthatassistinfacilitatingresearch, nurturing facultypartnershipsand supporting library operations and services.
- Represent the College and library in local,regionaland national networks, consortia, and professional organizationsincluding annual reporting to professional agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Engagement with and service on the PALNI (Private Academic Library Network of Indiana)BoardofDirectors.
- Serveon College committees and task forces as appointed.
Required education and experience:
- An MLS or MLIS from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution or an equivalent international program.
- Demonstrated increasingly responsible administrative experience in an academic library.

Track recordofprovidingmultiple access points to library information and resources for a diverse collegepopulation.
Successful record as an administrative leader with experience in strategicplanning;fiscal management; and personnel managementincluding staff and students.
Evidence of developing effective collaborations and relationships across campus constituencies, as well as with community partners and key stakeholders that expand beyond the campus community.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills and the ability to act as a strong advocate for the library.
Ability to prioritize workload with multiple demands and frequent interruptions.
