Full Job Description
Our Client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer from the construction industry who has a proven track record of success with managing and directing all company finances. This role is crucial to strategic planning, budgeting, financial analysis, risk management and assurance of financial compliance. It requires a deep understanding of finance principles as well as a strong grasp of the construction industry's unique financial challenges and opportunities.
The CFO will be an insightful and proactive leader. They will manage the day-to-day functions and collaborate with the executive team to implement strategies that will move the company forward. The ideal candidate is someone who is driven, self-motivated and thrives in an ever-changing environment. The CFO will be required to be on-site 100% of the time in Santa Clara, California.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and transparency.
* Develop, teach, and train and foster a culture of continual accountability and collaboration.
* Serve as a strategic partner and manage all of the accounting functions.
* Provide data driven insights to executive management to improve decision making.
* Execute financial strategies aligned with the Company's overall objectives.
* Be a strategic partner to other executives and departments, providing financial expertise in order to develop short- and long-term company goals and objectives.
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
* Monitor cash flow, profitability, daily cash balances, balance sheet and credits reports.
* Compile and review WIP schedule.
* Continually analyze financial reporting, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
* Oversee health insurance, workers compensation insurance, and supplemental payments.
* Manage insurance coverage, contract negotiations, and bonding requirements specific to the construction industry.
* Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws and construction industry regulations.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with CPA's, in order to develop tax strategies and strong business practices.
* Examine expense management and software enhancements and make changes, as necessary.
* Mitigate risks by maintaining robust internal controls and audit practices.
* Generate governmental reporting (OSHA logs, union reporting, EE01, taxes, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA strongly preferred).
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial leadership roles within the construction industry.
* Proven track record of managing finances for $20+ million in revenue
* Minimum 5+ years of progressive leadership skills and managing a high performing team.
* Strong understanding of WIP schedule, job costing, lien reporting, prevailing wage, and certified payroll experience.
* Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and other accounting software and databases.
* Skilled at manipulating and interpreting a lot of information, developing findings and drawing conclusions.
* Proven knowledge and expertise of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and maintain executive level partnerships.
Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. The range shared is for the expectations as laid out in the job description.
Staring base compensation range for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area is: $180-$250k
