Summary
This position is within the Facilities Management Division at the United States Mint in Philadelphia, which is responsible for the maintenance, repair and renovation of the building and utility systems including electrical, natural gas, potable water, process cooling water, steam, HVAC and compressed air systems, wastewater treatment and other environmental systems.
Duties
As an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, you will:
- Work primarily installing, maintaining and troubleshooting malfunctions on a variety of systems.
- Operate and provide maintenance on high voltage equipment operating at 13,200 volts.
- Monitor substations that control the electrical system and batteries used as emergency power supplies.
- Balance and make adjustments to complex, integrated HVAC systems to meet climate controlled conditions in production, administrative offices, laboratory, and maintenance areas by changing and monitoring settings on computers, valves, heating and cooling dampers and motors.
- Operate and maintain a Waste Water Treatment Plant that filters 50,000 gallons daily

This position requires a Universal Technician Certification as per EPA Section 608. Applicants who do not currently possess the certification will be required to obtain it within one year of appointment to the position.
Work is performed on ladders, platforms, and hard-to-reach places. Stands, stoops, reaches, kneels, climbs and works in awkward and uncomfortable positions when performing the work. Lifts tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and frequently lifts in excess of 40 pounds.
