The NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSM) Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time general pediatrician to join the primary care pediatric practice at NYC Health + Hospitals – Bellevue. Clinical and administrative responsibilities include providing primary care to pediatric patients from birth – 21 years, including children with complex care needs, and rotating in the Bellevue Newborn Nursery, with the potential for assuming a leadership role in the newborn nursery. Supervision of medical students and residents in these clinical settings, and formal didactic teaching responsibilities are integral to the role. There are exciting opportunities to become involved in quality improvement and collaborative research activities. Fellowship training and/or prior post-residency clinical and teaching experience is preferred.
The Bellevue Pediatric Ambulatory Care Service provides comprehensive primary care and specialty services to largely low-income, historically underserved patients and families who reside in the five boroughs of New York City. Our clinic proudly serves a diverse, multi-racial/ethnic population, with a predominance of primary Spanish language speakers and many recent immigrant and first-generation families. There are approximately 25,000 annual primary care visits by infants, children, adolescents and young adults, including scheduled well-child visits and visits for minor acute illnesses. As an important pediatric referral center for the NYC H+H system, our clinic cares for many children with chronic illnesses and medical complexity. Within primary care, we have several multi-disciplinary programs, including teams for follow up of high-risk newborns, children with medical complexity, adolescent parents and their infants, and asthma. Professional staff representing a wide range of disciplines work side by side in our clinic, including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, nutritionists, psychologists, child psychiatrists, and child life specialists. A full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty services provide outpatient care within the same physical space, a feature that facilitates communication between primary care and subspecialty providers. We also serve as the pediatric primary care training site for all NYU pediatric residents and as a site for NYU medical student training.
